Acrylic Nails at Home: A Beginner's Guide

What you need, how to prep safely, and the mistakes to avoid on your first set.

Good prep matters more than speed. Clean the nail plate, push cuticles back gently, and remove shine with a soft buffer — do not over-file.

Work in a ventilated space, keep product off the skin, and build in thin layers so the acrylic cures evenly. Take your time with shaping; a simple oval or square shape is easiest for a first set.

Remove acrylics by soaking, never by prying. If a nail feels sore, stop and let it recover before trying again.
